Crates are littered all over the place, and they're one of the series' most recognizable features. There are lots of Crates for the smashing, each with its own prize or function. Games with traditional gameplay feature a Crates-for-Gems system - all Crates in a level have to be broken in order to collect a Gem (except the iron ones, which are unbreakable).
