After Activision laid off the Radical Entertainment division in charge of Crash Bandicoot games (along with several other studios in the process), a couple of resumés were found online, indicating the possibility of a new racing game by High Impact Games. This studio was formed in 2003 by ex-members of Naughty Dog (creators of the series) and Insomniac Games (creators of Spyro the Dragon, the sister franchise to Crash).
While the name was most probably provisory (what with it being the same as the original PlayStation racing spin-off), several planned features were found in the aforementioned resumés. It was going to be a kart racing game and had such planned things as:
- Several playable characters;
- Cinematics;
- Toys for each character (exact purpose unknown);
- Approximately 12 mods and 10 items;
- Flight physics involving flapping wings.
The game would have been developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii platforms. Though it was planned to be announced in 2010, it was scrapped before a functional prototype could be created.
