- MOM was nominated for Best Platformer of 2008 by Nintendo Power.
- The drawings in the Kidz Art Pack concept art, as well as those seen inside Crash's house and Evil Public School, were made by the winners of a contest held by Kidzworld in collaboration with Radical Entertainment. Asides from having their drawings featured in the game, the winners also appear in the game's credits and they all received a free copy of the game. Most of them are/were actually members of the Crash Mania forum, though a member named Eris, who claims to have been one of the winners, did not get her drawing and name in the game, nor the free copy. Curiously, one other member (Kevin Fagaragan) is mistakenly listed twice in the credits.
- The game was called Crash: Invasion of the Bandicoot Snatchers early in development, but this title was dropped because it was difficult to translate to non-English languages without lose the joke (the title is a parody of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a 1956 sci-fi movie).
- The name Mind Over Mutant comes from the expression "mind over matter", and it's a reference to both Crash's ability to overcome stronger enemies and the mind-control theme of the game.
- The back of the Italian box has a feature about Cortex's voice actor, Mago Forest, a popular showman and comedian in Italy.
- The Italian magazine Topolino held a feature of this game in issue #2767. Topolino is a Disney magazine named after Mickey Mouse, who's called that in Italy. This issue had a contest for the best Crash-related rhyme with several different awards:
- Michael Jackson: When you meet the first TK in the game, he bust some of Michael Jackson's trademark moves , including bits from the "Thriller" choreography and the moonwalk.
- Marvin the Martian: One of Cortex's messages in Evil Public School states that the winner of the evil science fair will receive an explosive space modulator, in reference to Marvin the Martian from Looney Tunes.
- G.I. Joe: After N. Gin explains his plot to Crash and Aku Aku, he proclaims that he's "gonna be like Serpentor," a character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line of military-themed action figures.
- Star Wars: When N. Gin makes his first appearance in the game, he briefly impersonates the bray of a Tusken Raider from the Star Wars series of films. Adding to the reference is the staff N. Gin wields in this sequence.
- 300: One of the Znu's lines is "Tonight... we dine over there!", parodying a line from the movie 300 ("Tonight... we dine in hell!").
- I Can Has Cheezburger?: Cortex will sometimes tell the students over the school speakers that they "cannot have cheeseburger". This is a reference to an Internet meme, which consists of an image with a cat and a caption saying "I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER?". Cortex then adds "That's a stupid meme anyway."
- Super Mario Sunshine: The name of the cutscene "Crunch Get" is a parody of the countless cases of poor English in Japanese games (commonly known as Engrish). In particular, it refers to the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine and its text "Shine Get".
- The Incredible Hulk (TV Series): The ending of the cutscene "Crunch Get" is a parody of the way most episodes of this show used to end. Dr. David Banner would walk down the street with sad music, much like Brio does in this game (the theme "The Lonely Man" is also played like in the Hulk show). It's worth noting that Brio himself may be a parody of The Hulk, as he transforms into a green monster too.
- The first notes from Crash of the Titans's "Turf's Up" are present in the tracks you hear outside Crash's house, outside Mount Grimly and in the Wasteland area where you have to find the three keys.
