Updates

(Date format: DD-MM-YYYY)

(News Update)

While you wait for the next big update (which is still being worked on, don't you worry), here are the first two videos for the new "Meet the Mutants" line of trailers:

- Roller!
- Yuktopus!

All thanks go to Activision.

I don't want to promise anything, but an update should be ready before January. This is because of three things - I'm working on several new features to make the site better, my free time grows more and more limited these days and I don't have Mind Over Mutant yet. You are still advised to go play Crash in the meantime, for it is still fun.

By the way, sorry about the lack of a November poll.

26-10-2008
(Note)

With Mind Over Mutant's release in Europe, the site will take a while to fully update. Additional tweaks are being made at the same time, so you'll have to be a little patient until the next update. In the meanwhile, go play Crash.

GO. IT'S FUN.

That does it, I'm moving to Italy

- Get a load of these videos from Crash Bandicoot in Tour! As you'll be able to tell, this was a pretty big event. It was held in Italy last August. Thanks go to lionessb for the link.
- Two new scans have been added (one submitted by Crashpro3 and another one by lionessb). The latter scan is about a skateboarding contest in Milano, Italy, which was held yesterday.
- Crash's cameo in The Legend of Spyro TEN has been further explained by Dingodile555, who's also provided a picture for it.
- New Trivia sub-section: Remixes. If a game has remixes, you'll find them listed on its Trivia page.

I should probably mention that I'm a PAL player. The reason I say this is because some fellow fans have asked when the big Mind Over Mutant update would be ready, but the game isn't out where I live yet. As such, you shouldn't expect a general update this month, but on the other hand, Monster Weeks continues!

First DS Screenies

The first screenshots of the DS version of MOM are revealed! Some nice info is present as well. A big thanks to DS-Fry for these.

Game Release (NTSC-US) *Edited*

Today means great joy and fun times for all the Crash fans in the USA and Canada: Mind Over Mutant is out!
The game is due for a PAL release on the 25th of this month (this means Europe, Australia and a few other PAL regions). Enjoy the game, NTSC players!

Meanwhile, all the PAL players can take a look at the following to make the wait more enjoyable:

- Official character profiles!
- Brand new screenshots!

A continued thanks to Activision for all the neat stuffs.

EDIT: I almost forgot about these two renders (thanks to Crazybandicoot and lionessb for finding them).

(Monster Weeks Update)

We continue Monster Weeks with some sweet new renders and a dash of concept art. Look at Coco go!

27-09-2008
It's Monster Weeks!

Nice, huh? You're probably wondering what it's all about. Monster Weeks is CM's antecipation event for Mind Over Mutant, complete with new visuals and some juicy new updates. Monster Weeks will, logically enough, last until the game's release. These updates wouldn't have been possible without Activision's support, so let's hear it for them!

Let us begin our first Monster Week not with a Sunday, but with some cool high quality renders:

- Grimly!
- Rhinoroller!
- Spike!
- Ratcicle!

By your powers combined, I'm Captain Planet! Wait, what?
Also be sure not to miss the DS interview for Mind Over Mutant, what with another update here so soon.

Stay tuned for more Monster Weeks updates!

29-06-2008
Welcome... to the PRESENT!

It is with great pleasure that I present what I had been secretly working on since the last update: an all-new Crash Mania! It wasn't part of the plan to move the site altogether, so scroll down to the bottom of the update to find out why.

So what exactly is new? A lot of things, that's for sure! Bulletlist for you:

- The site has been re-built from scratch. It is now written in XHTML, PHP and CSS, instead of the old HTML with ugly tables. This makes it not only a lot more appealing but also lets me update it much more easily from now on.
- The new layout and navigation bars make browsing a whole lot better.
- There are graphical enhancements just about everywhere. New logo, new backgrounds, new welcoming image, the works. I think the site looks much better now, and I hope you do too.
- A lot of the text has been re-done, perfected, and in some cases, completely re-written.
Not only that, but there's also an interview with Jason Rubin himself! Those who've been fans of the series from the start will know he was one of Naughty Dog's co-founders (along with Andy Gavin), and one of the people responsible for the very creation of Crash.

Plus some of the usual site updates you'd expect:

- Crash Nitro Kart 2 (the JME game) has been released, and as such, there is now a finalized page for it.
- Yaya, the new character in CNK 2, has her own Crash-O-Pedia page.
- The Japanese name for Penta has been submitted by Stayinmilk, as have his Japanese voice actor and those for the Park Drones in CrashTTR.
- A lot of new FAQs have been written by Smaz: The WoC, XS, N-Tranced, CNK, Fusion, Twinsanity, CrashTTR and Titans.
- Two new cameo pictures: The Legend of Spyro (taken by Dark52, submitted by Bruno) and Game Over (submitted by Paul Dodd).
- The battle arenas from the PSP version of CrashTTR have better screenshots now, taken by Smaz.
- New Mysteries: Crash 1 (by Luca) and Crash of the Titans (by Samno1.CBFan).
- More version differences for Titans, by Pablo Barbará.
- New Merchandise, submitted by Jim White: Crash 3 cap and CNK wheels.
- Some more Crash of the Titans trivia, by Daxterx2005 and Majstor.

The reason for the new address is unrelated to the design revamp. There have been some server problems with the old host for quite a while now, and I can't upload anything there. With no signs of the problem being fixed and with the sudden appearance of advertisements on the pages, I decided to move the site again, hopefully for good. I would re-direct the old site here, but the server doesn't let me (I'm assuming you're here because you've visited the forum). I'll get to it once it's fixed.

I hope you enjoy the new Crash Mania! Have fun catching up.

01-04-2008

- April Fools, everyone. This year's prank was entirely conceived and designed by Venusy, so a round of applause to him. It's just too bad we couldn't show the full HTML version he made, but uh, bandicoots gnawed through our Internets. That's right.

31-03-2008
(News Update)

- Interesting news about the new mobile racing game (now being called Crash Nitro Kart 2), including new designs for Oxide and Ripper Roo.
Edit: Added some text concerning the cars in the game, as reminded by Samno1.CBFan.

27-03-2008
(News Update)

- As mentioned in the previous news update, Activision's decision on the Crash series' future was all a big false alarm. The only thing there was left to confirm was whether Activision's response to that fan was real or not. It seemed way too odd to believe, but now it's been confirmed: the fan (if you can call him that) acted it all up.
Another fan (who goes by the name of Crashfan) e-mailed Activision about it, and they do not dislike Crash in any way. I have seen the response they gave him, and I guarantee you that it is 100% real. To quote what really matters from that message:
"With respect to your inquiry, I am not sure where you have received this information however many times as you know, rumors are not always %100 true. Crash and Spyro are indeed great games and there has been no indication that there will not be any more in the future."
All credit goes to Crashfan, for having the good will of getting to the bottom of this in the best possible way. I also forgot to credit JumpButton for the last update, so I'd like to thank him now, as he was the one who asked Radical about Variety's report.
To conclude this saga of updates:
- Variety's report is false.
- Activision likes Crash.
- Crash will return! (And so will Spyro!)

26-03-2008
(News Update)

- According to Radical, Variety (last update's source) was purely speculating, and nothing is known about this kind of things just yet, since the deal between Vivendi and Activision still isn't complete. If things stay this way, this is obviously a big relief, so let's hope so. As for the fan mail that was previously mentioned, its verity remains unconfirmed. Since it doesn't make sense (and because it's an odd thing to reply to a fan), I'm personally a little skeptical about it. If there are updates on that bit, you'll be knowing it.

23-03-2008
(News Update)

- This news entry has been removed from the main page after being disproven. You can still read the archived version here.
- A new mobile game is coming soon. It's called Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart, though it has nothing to do with the old CNK.

09-03-2008
Cool Muzik

- I'd like to begin by apologizing for the lack of notices- scroll down to the bottom of this update to find out why.
- Surprise interview! Josh Mancell from the Mutato Muzika talks about the music in the Naughty Dog games.
- By popular request, the Karts and Cars have been given their own Crash-O-Pedia entry.
- New CTR cheats yet again. Submitted by Hacc, <V>, Ntropydude, Crash E. Coot and Micster.
- The mobile phone games have much more detailed descriptions now. A big thanks to Alen and Brocolli Fish.
- Added the Credits Easter Eggs to the CrashTTR and Titans pages (thanks to Alex Kaine for the reminder).
- A new Scans page has been opened. Thanks to Danju Parker for the Cortex interview and Tropy29 for originally posting the Crash interview.
- New CNK Trivia regarding Lab Assistant statues (thanks to Stormy Nepe).
So the site went down for a week last month, and there haven't been any updates recently. This was because CM's host started moving servers, so I couldn't keep you informed of it. However, I have posted the situation on the forum as usual, since it is hosted in a different place. Check that when you feel like something's wrong on the main site.
On a side-note, news about any eventual upcoming games, will be posted once the time comes and there is official confirmation for it (just a reminder to the fellow fans who've been keeping an eye out on the latest rumours and tidbits).

14-02-2008
(News Update)

- Titans may not have won the WGA, but as a surprise, it has received yet another nomination! This time, it's been nominated for the Elan Awards for Best Sound Design and Best Character. You can see more details at Radical's page. Crash is getting a lot of recognition with this last game, so I'd be very proud if I were a Radical employee, especially with Scarface there too. (Thanks to Venusy for the heads-up.)

11-02-2008
(News Update)

- Well, it looks like Crash of the Titans didn't win the WGA. The winner is Dead Head Fred. Still, it's already pretty cool that it got nominated out of so many games.
